Ina Art X The Salty Blond

Collection One ~ Nguuku

words from the artist:

My name is Karinda Farrant, I am 27 years old and a Mother of 3. I am a proud Gunditjmara, Mutti Mutti, Barkindji, Kamilaroi woman. Just over 2 years ago I lost my Grandmother Eunice Ina Wright (RIP), she meant the world to me. Losing her was such a hard time in my life, to take my mind away I started to paint. I found it to be so healing for myself and whenever I would paint I remembered her and the good memories we got to share. I want my Nan to always be remembered as a proud strong Gunditjmara woman who loved her culture. When I paint I paint in remembrance of her and I carry her name and legacy with me through my journey. I am forever grateful for all she did for me and to acknowledge that by carrying her name is my way of saying thank you Nan. This piece that I have created ‘Nguuku’ which means water in Barkindji, has waterholes with gatherings running along the streams. The dots represent the memories which are made, with the dark blue representing the land. This has been an incredible experience to see our design come to life. Ina Art is a Mother and Daughter duo who love to tell stories through our artwork. We don’t know what the future holds for Ina Art but this collab has got us excited for what is next, where ever that road may take us we hope for bigger opportunities to share our artwork, our culture and our story. Thank you The Salty blond co for the opportunity to showcase Ina Art.

Into The Blue / Collection II

Your favourite collection is back! Just in new styles!

Into The Blue is inspired by the 2005 film about treasure hunting in our big blue and they’re love for each other and the ocean. Our frangipani print is a signature from the early 2000’s and the blue represents the beautiful ocean they swim in.

due to the release being middle of winter, we have kept this collection very small with only releasing two sets of bikinis and a one piece.

All designed here locally on the West Coast of Australia and  made from REPREVE, a material made from recycled plastic bottles.

Uncle Frothys Plant Based Surf Wax

Words from owners Krystal and Nick:

"Living for the weekend was not something we wanted to do for the rest of our lives so we gave up our house and everything we own, bought a bus, built it into a home and are currently travelling Australia with no return date in sight.

Uncle Frothys came to life when we discovered we couldn't find any vegan friendly surf wax anywhere in the world! What on earth right? Our passion has always been the ocean, the planet and a plant based/vegan friendly lifestyle. So we knew we had to create a wax that ticked all the boxes!

But we didn't stop there. We wanted our wax to not only be better for the environment, we wanted it to be better in every way. So we spent every night and every day perfecting our recipe and after almost 2 years & countless failures later we finally came up with the perfect wax! The result? Our blocks are bigger, last longer, and don't melt in the sun.
We run Uncle Frothys together whilst living on the road. We spend a few hours a day preparing, mixing and hand pouring your creamy plant based goodness with our feet in the sand and a beer in our hands!"

Wash Bloc

WASH BLOC

We’re in business to protect the planet.

Our goal is to make products for people who care about the planet and its future and want the next generations to have the chance to enjoy the natural beauty of our planet, unharmed. We aim to convert ten thousand people from liquid products to solid products by 2024, one step further to changing the way the world washes. By doing this, we will save approximately 60,000 plastic bottles from ending up in landfill, or worse, the ocean or natural environment. This challenge excites us.

Why did we start?

I am a 23-year-old Fremantle lad with a passion for travel, sustainability and surfing. I have visited coastlines from Indonesia to Costa Rica, Sri Lanka and Portugal. While the waters in Australia are quite clean, other places I’ve surfed are riddled with plastic bottles and other rubbish. This was a real wake up call for me. There must be something I could do. I started to reduce the amount of plastic I used. I came across shampoo and conditioner bars and thought they were an amazing concept, but nothing on the market appealed to me. They were all targeted towards women and they were all too complicated, I just wanted a product that was naturally derived, plastic free and came in biodegradable packaging. So I started making my own. My rules are that Wash Bloc has to be as good for you as it is for the environment. No nasty chemicals – absolutely everything must be naturally derived and good for your hair, you and the planet. So Wash Bloc has been created to be sustainable, safe for the reef and all other waterways, without all of the ‘fluff’ that most shampoo and conditioner brands carry on about. We are making honest products that keep your hair clean, nourished and looking good while making a positive change to the way we wash. While we are launching with two products, we have big ambitions and aim to expand our product line into other wash products to save more plastic containers from ending up in the ocean.

Wash Bloc founder, George Brown

Since researching the cosmetics industry, and in particular the hair care industry, I have been shocked by what I’ve learnt. The majority of hair care products are manufactured overseas using cheap ingredients that are often harmful to humans and also to the planet. But these harmful chemicals only account for 20-30% of the final product, because when you buy liquid shampoo and conditioner, the rest of made up of 70-80% water. What an ecological disaster! That means most of the content of these plastic bottles are water that is mixed with harmful chemicals that is then transported around the world before finally being tossed into landfill where they stay for eons. We should be using concentrated solid bars that last three times as long, are naturally derived and not filled with harmful chemicals. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is now three times the size of France. It’s time to make changes to the way we wash ourselves.
